The services

Our incident response & coordination service provides rapid, effective response to active cyber incidents. We deploy seasoned experts who work alongside your internal teams and partners to contain the threat, minimise damage, and facilitate swift recovery. This service can scale up or down based on your needs - from a light-touch coordination service to a more comprehensive response.

The work we do includes:

  • Coordinating the initial analysis and containment efforts
  • Commencing and conducting a forensic investigation to understand the extent and impacts of the incident
  • Coordinating with a law firm or in-house counsel to make sure the investigation accounts for legal and regulatory requirements
  • Providing regular updates to and answering questions of internal stakeholders
  • Developing restoration and recovery plans to bring back systems in a safe way
  • Analysing affected data to identify impacted individuals and data assets
  • Developing victim support arrangements for impacted individuals
  • Assisting in your engagement with law enforcement, regulators, and other external counterparties (insurance, corporate customers, suppliers etc) to give them confidence in the steps your organisation has taken

We operate a 24/7 incident response hotline, ensuring that help is always just a phone call away. Our team uses specialised tools and methodologies to identify and respond to threats, while our experienced coordinators help communicate and manage the human and organisational aspects of the crisis.

The problems we help address

Many incidents can be handled in-house without a need for external assistance. For some incidents, either the circumstances of them or the issues that may arise can prompt a need for help. Some of types of problems we help organisations with are:

  • The evidence initially captured is insufficient to identify the cause or extent of the incident, or your team has reached a dead end in the investigation
  • The incident potentially involves insider(s) and there’s a desire for independence
  • Establishing an additional response track that is looking around the corner and thinking about restoration / recovery / communication / victim support
  • You need an experienced incident coordinator to pull together and align the work your team and your partner organisations are doing
  • Your team is at capacity dealing with BAU or other incidents, and you need extra resources
  • The scale of the incident you’re confronting exceeds the capacity of your team to respond to alone or with existing partners
  • Your team has undergone recent turnover or you work with a limited team and need specialist expertise that’s not available in depth at your organisation
  • You want the added assuredness that comes with having a seasoned team alongside you that has experience working through countless major incidents

Providing immediate, expert intervention during a cyber crisis contributes to a more confident and effective response, which minimises damage and disruption, demonstrates competency to external stakeholders, and positions organisations to build back better afterwards.

Our goal is to enable leaders and stakeholders to feel confident and assured in the way an incident is being responded to, and that impacted parties are being supported appropriately.

The difference we strive for

At Germane Advisory, we bring real-world expertise from cyber crisis situations to your incident response. Our pragmatic, people-centric approach ensures that we not only address the technical aspects of the incident but also manage the human elements of crisis response.

We're future-focused, which presents in a couple of ways during an incident. First, the opportunity to look at issues that we can start preparing for in the coming days and weeks, and how that might affect our immediate response. Second, for using each incident as an opportunity to build long-term resilience.

Cyber crises are a converged problem made up of cyber security, technology, resilience, privacy, and data issues. The diverse skillset and experience of Germane Advisory’s team position us to provide a converged and holistic response to these issues.

Our value-minded approach means we focus on actions that deliver the most significant benefit, helping you make tough decisions under pressure. We're also committed to helping integrate your organisation’s values into the response, using them as guidance in how we prioritise and make decisions.

With Germane Advisory, you're not just getting an incident response team; you're getting an experienced partner committed to your long-term recovery and success.
